Having scored a hat trick of awards last year, the Dubai-themed interactive MONOPOLY board game returned to City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif and Mall of the Emirates. Visitors had the chance to play, win great prizes and help build houses in Nepal for families in need. Channelling the spirit of Ramadan, Majid Al Futtaim presented a cheque with funds raised from the game—in addition to their own generous donation—to local charity Red Crescent, for more than AED 400 thousand.
Majid Al Futtaim converted the points collected from the 14 days of interactive play and converted it into dirhams - to be donated to Red Crescent. A digital meter displayed in each mall tracked the amount raised. In addition, life-size wooden Monopoly houses were also dotted around the malls for visitors, who wanted to make a donation to Red Crescent without taking part in the interactive board game.
The Monopoly initiative also underlined important milestones such as the 20th anniversary of City Centre Deira, the 10th anniversary of Mall of the Emirates, the 5th anniversary of City Centre Mirdif, and the 80th anniversary of the world’s most popular board game.
Led by the iconic figure of Mr. Monopoly as the Master of Ceremonies, shoppers stepped into the world of the board game as they visited some of Dubai’s most famous landmarks. Players won instant prizes from mall retailers—all whilst trying to dodge the jailer.
